Engraved brick pavers proved a sturdy base for a war memorial honoring those imprisoned at Point Lookout, MD. Over the past year and a half, Ceramica, Inc in partnership with Shade and Wise of Richmond, VA collaborated to make this honorable war memorial a possibility by providing the engraved brick pavers needed. The 223 engraved brick pavers which measure 4x8 each have engraved in them names of those remembered, surviving or otherwise.

It is standard that our engraved brick pavers have text inscribed in only capitalized letters. We worked with the Point Lookout Prisoner of War Descendants Organization (PLPOW) to strive for a more personal feel for the war memorial and created for them bricks which are etched with both lower and upper case text. The PLPOW felt this personalized touch helped adequately honor those who endured the immense squalor that was Point Outlook, MD. The engraved brick pavers with individual names cast in them are inset around a large bronze statue of a confederate prisoner, an image to invoke remembrance of all those who perished or survived the absolute ghastly conditions of the prison.
